Acast Troubleshooting

Greetings fellow Creators (and Patreon Staff, too!),

Patreon announced their partnership with Acast at the precise time I was trying to experiment with podcasting, so I signed on with them and have been pushing out episodes weekly with relative ease. I’m still trying to get the hang of the exclusive podcast episodes that are available only to my Patreon supporters. The folx at Acast helped resolve some issues on their end, but heard this from the supporter who is helping me test this feature out:

“My RSS feed told me about the exclusive Pondcast episode today, but it didn’t give me access to it immediately. In order to unlock it, I had to come back here to Patreon and click the link in the membership benefits and actively “Allow” Acast to access my membership information again before it would play. I’m just using “RSS Feed Reader” to access the feed, as opposed to subscribing through Google or Apple podcasts (as is apparently the preferred way from the Acast landing page), so maybe it’s losing the cookie that says I have access somewhere along the line. It is a bit of a pain to have to login to Patreon and re-Allow.”

I’m wondering if anyone can speak to this whether they’ve had luck implementing the exclusive content feature of Acast? THANKS Y’ALL! -Paul

I have lots of Patrons using the Acast feed, we have been using it since the start of 2020 and have not heard of anyone having to keep logging back in. I think the issue is that they are using an RSS feed reader and not a podcast-specific app. Just let them know if they use one of the listed podcast apps it should not happen AND are designed for ease of use for listening inside the app.

I know my Patrons can have strong feelings related to their preferred tech and apps so they might be put off by having to change apps, you can also let them know all of the great features podcast apps have.

Or inquire how they use the rss feed reader to listen to podcasts, to try and find a way to meet their needs.

Let me know if that makes sense!
