Creator Conventions

Hi everyone I wanted to start a list of all the creator or creator-like conventions you know about. Will put them up here as the list grows and maybe put a highlight you got from each one of them and what you liked about it!

This is one that’s on our radar at the moment, @theflutechannel: https://www.thinkercon.com/

This is also a great idea for a blog we could make to be a resource for creators, thanks for the idea and making this thread!

I’ve been to a lot of writers conferences, and help coordinate one that occurs each April in Las Vegas. Naturally, my recommendation for the Las Vegas Writers Conference is somewhat biased since I help organize it. But it is one of the best I’ve attended and offers a great mix of classes. About half the workshops focus on the craft of writing, and the remaining half is split between various business-related topics such as marketing, building an online platform, connecting with an audience, and the publishing industry. Size is capped at 250, so it has a more intimate feel. Other favorite writing conventions include:

Surrey International Writers Conference - October conference near Vancouver, Canada. Sold out in two days last year, so if you’re interested in going, be ready to sign up as soon as registration opens in June. This one has a really welcoming atmosphere.

Life, the Universe, and Everything - February event in Provo, Utah. Much cheaper than other conventions because they don’t feed you meals, and specific to fantasy/science fiction.

I host a writers conference every Labor Day weekend in Oklahoma City. It’s called WriterCon, it’s at the Skirvin Hotel, and we typically attract around 200 people. Our headliners next year will include James Scott Bell, Erin Hennicke, and many more. William Bernhardt [https://writercon.org]
